Brief Description:  1st Tech Counselor visit

Had Labor Day off today, so I did some flying with some local SH RV bubbas. Flew as -3 of a 4 plane with Mike DeMarino in his super fast RV-4. After the flying was done and the birds put to bed, Jere Rosser, my EAA Technical Counselor came by for a visit. He has just completed his 3rd project; KR-2 (Tweety Bird 1), RV-4 (Tweety Bird 2), RV-8 (Tweety Bird 3). He has also completed a major restoration of a B-25 and is just a wealth of knowledge. His plane is shown in the pics, and can't be missed with his signature "Tweety Bird" yellow paint scheme.

He is flying the Aero Sport 180 with the new Hartzell blended airfoil prop, He says it flies like a dream.

As far as my project goes, Jere said all looks good and to go ahead and rivet on the skins and close up the HS and VS. He did say that the primer on the empennage parts is way too thick, so I'll need to adjust that. That actually isn't a big deal since the extra weight actually can help the RV-8's CG. He also pointed out some edge rolling techniques to make skin edges lay flat and some "countersinking" techniques to make rivets sit a little nicer in a dimpled hole. Essentially, by running a countersink debur tool lightly about 2 turns in a dimple, the flush rivet will sit a bit better in the hole prior to riveting.
