Brief Description: port elevator rivet damage/repair
While riveting the E-704/E-704 rib assembly to the E-702 elevator spar, the bucking bar slipped off the shop head on one of the rivets and put a pretty good dent in the spar and rib flanges. I considered drilling out the rivet but decided not to after closer examination off the rivet and the damage to the spar flange. I cleaned up the rough edges and took good measurements of the shop head and found them to be within MILSPEC tolerances. The dent in the flange cleaned up fairly nice too. The damage looks worse than I think it is and have decided to press on and leave as is. I will reprime the affected areas and get on with the skinning.
