Brief Description:  Engine Testing

The past week has been dedicated to final prep for engine testing. The EIS and EFIS setup was checked out and a few bugs worked out. There are still a few items to work out, but nothing critical to engine testing and break in.

The engine first start was yesterday, after working out a couple of ignition issues. The engine ran great, but we shut it down after about five minutes when a small oil leak developed at the fifth bearing fitting. After inspecting the engine closely, another very small oil leak was found at the upper oil cooling fitting. Both leaks were fixed by tightening the fittings.

Several more short runs were completed without additional engine issues.

Time was spent today working on the fuel pressure electrical circuit. It was indicating less than a pound of pressure, but it was very obvious the pressure was in the correct range. After finding no issues with the wiring and verifying that the EIS was set up correctly for the installed pressure sensor, a call to GRT confirmed that they had sent me the wrong sensor for this application. I’m expecting the correct sensor in the next few days.
