Brief Description:  Wheel Pant Finishing

Today the last application of spot putty was sanded down with 400 grit sandpaper, leaving only tiny pin holes to be filled. These were filled with low dust, drywall joint compound, rubbed into the pin holes with my fingers.

After drying for less than two hours, both front halves of the wheel pants were sanded again with 400 grit sandpaper, removing all of the compound except for the very small specks in the pin holes. For these very small holes, this technique is much faster and effective than spot putty. The material left in the pin holes will be penetrated by, and securely bound in place with the next coat of primer.

The rear halves will be sanded later this week when time allows.
