Started construction of the air box and filter mount today. A paper pattern was trimmed until it fit the cowling closely. It was used as a pattern for the 3/16” thick plywood mounting plates and the aluminum cover.
Provision was made to add a 2” duct flange to the right of the 2-1/2” carburetor air feed opening, if I decide to feed the cabin heat system from this point.
The plywood mounting plates will be epoxied to the cowling to eliminate the need for fasteners to penetrate the cowling.
Nutplates are attached with soft, solid rivets to the plywood mounting plates to mount the aluminum cover.
