The interior of the canopy was masked to expose the bottom inch of the bubble, and the exposed adhesive joint. The exposed area of the bubble was sanded with 150 grit paper to promote adhesion of paint. The exposed area was then painted with a medium grey paint designed to adhere well to plastic surfaces. After this paint dried for 30 minutes, the area was sprayed with Dupli-Color DM100 Gray & White Spatter Paint. I had tested this paint combination on Plexiglas before, and it provided excellent adhesion.
The purpose of painting this area of the bubble is to hide variations in the appearance of the adhesive joint seen through the bubble. The finished bubble/skirt assembly looks good.
The light grey areas are where the frame will be mounted to the skirt on the sides, and thin foam weather stripping at the front and rear.
