Brief Description: Fitting the Vertical Stabilizer to the Fuselage
Today, minor modifications were made to the vertical stabilizer to fit it to the fuselage. The sides of the rear spar C-channel were cut back about 9/16” from the bottom to clear the lower fuselage longerons.
A 5/16” wide opening was cut through the bulb of the lower longerons to clear the vertical stabilizer rear spar and stiffener. All of the modifications were made with a cutting disc in a Dremel tool.
Image #1 and #2 show the vertical stabilizer approximately in position, and image #3 shows the modification to the lower leading edge of the vertical stabilizer to clear the upper fuselage.
