I picked up the remainder of the finishing kit along with the reworked cylinder heads, engine mount, cowling, and alternator system yesterday.
The initial project today was to cross drill the flap actuator inner tube, install the spring, insert the plastic end plug in the inner tube, lubricate the tube with anti-seize, then install the inner tube and fasten everything in place with the hardware. It operated smoothly and engaged the notches correctly.
The second project was to assemble the rudder cable assemblies. The first task was to fabricate a pair of barrel nuts from 3/8” round aluminum rod. All of the components were cleaned up to enable them to fit together and operate smoothly. The printed fairleads were filed smooth, then given four coats of a sandable primer/filler to obscure the layering resulting from the printing process. All of the parts were then installed on the aircraft according to the Builder’s Manual.
