Brief Description:  Coax Holes Through Structure

I have been thinking ahead about routing things through the forward fuselage without leaving them exposed inside the cockpit. I decided to see if one or more of the antenna coax cables and possibly the magnetometer wires could be routed through the steel fuselage frame tubes. The only viable route I found was through the upper right 1-1/4” X 5/8” tube. I was able to drill a 21/64” hole in the forward and aft ends of this tube. In the front, you must drill through both walls of the 5/8” X 5/8” panel cross tube. There is plenty of beef around the holes, so I believe the structural integrity is intact.

The photos were taken with the fuselage structure upside down.

Please note that drilling holes in the steel structure other than those called for in the Builder’s Manual, is absolutely not approved by SPA.
