Brief Description:  Right Fuel Tank Assembly

Today, after the tank sealant had cured overnight, additional sealant was mixed and thinned with Lacquer Thinner to the consistency of ketchup, then packed into a modified syringe. The tip of the syringe had been heated and reformed to a 90-degree curve. This modification makes it easier to position a fillet of sealant around the shop end of each rivet inside the tank. It was also used to fill any void left at the flutes in the ribs.

An additional fillet of thinned sealant was also added at the intersection of the skin and the non-flanged side of each rib, especially where there was little squeeze-out. This additional fillet was then carefully wiped with a shortened brush to form a solid, void free fillet.

The aluminum vent line was installed through the tank and secured under the fill flange with the supplied clamp, washer and a long rivet.

The fuel level sensor was temporarily positioned to be sure that the float did not come close to the vent tube. Plenty of room.
