Brief Description: Spar Preparation and Updrilling the Right Spar
After locking everything in place with additional screws, the spar was marked up to indicate how each of the holes was to be modified, and what kind of fastener, and its length, was to be installed in each hole. This is a very important step in the process, and needs to be double checked, because a mistake in this process could be costly.
After the markup is complete, I started drilling the inboard end of the right spar, with a #10 drill for 3/16” rivets. After drilling several, I decided that the bottom side of the drill block needed to be relieved to allow chips to exit below the drill bushing rather than being forced up the length of the drill bushing. This will be added before drilling additional holes.
