I received the remainder of the main gear mounting components yesterday, but domestic duties consumed most of my time. Today the radius plates were cut to size, match drilled to the retaining plate, cleaned up and deburred.
These two plates were loosely assembled to the mounting points on the fuselage weldment and the gear leg slid into position. With the leg in position, a 3/8” drill bit was positioned through the upper leg hole and into the supporting tube on the airframe. A few turns with a drill motor and the holes were cleared for the 3/8” bolt that takes most of the gear loads. The bolts were secured and this process was repeated on the on the other side.
The axel adapters and wheel sets were located. The ID of the axel adapters required significant work with emery cloth strips in a 5/8” wood dowel to remove the powder coat so the axel could be inserted, but they eventually fit.
