Brief Description:  Other tools available if the need arises. PP-2

Photo 1 - is a 36” Central Machinery (Harbor Freight) brake used for forming both aluminum and steel sheet components. I also have an old 24” pan brake, discarded by a former employer.

Photo 2 – is an HTP, Invertig 201 AC/DC TIG welder. It was purchased to weld the steel tube fuselage of Bodacious, where most of the tubes are only 0.035” thick. It is a high quality welder with all the bells and whistles, and worked beautifully welding the fuselage cage. This is the only “expensive” tool I own, but it is well worth the cost, if your life depends on the quality of the welds.

Photo 3 – On the left is a nine-inch Logan lathe that I was able to purchase for ~$250 from a friend who needed to dispose of it quickly because he leased out the building where it was stored. It has been used to fabricate components or tooling for many different projects, including Bodacious.

On the right is a Sears, eight-speed drill press, and is probably the most used machine in my shop. I have had it so long that I don’t remember how I acquired it. Interestingly, it is powered by a 1/3-HP motor that I hand wound and assembled in an electrical engineering class while I was in college, back shortly after dirt was invented. It still works great.
