Brief Description:  Spinner Cutting

While waiting for the proper propeller mounting hardware to arrive (shipped today,) I decided to fit the spinner to the propeller with hardware store bolts and nuts. I don’t have the pitch setting pins yet, but I assumed that the final pitch will be close to 15-degrees.

The prop hub and the rear bulkhead were mounted to a sturdy table and checked for level. The blades were mounted and set at 15-degrees relative to the rear bulkhead, at 75% of the prop diameter. A cardboard pattern was cut to fit around the blade shanks and referenced to the table, and marks projected to the table with a square from both sides of both shanks.

The blades were removed and the cardboard pattern was transferred to the spinner while sitting on the bulkheads. The spinner was then cut with a jigsaw. The initial fit was very close, but some fine tuning with a Dremel tool will be needed to increase the clearance.

The spinner cutouts were retained, and will be used to fill the openings behind the propeller.
