Brief Description: Modified Carb Heat Ducting & Fuel Line
Back in August when I installed the carb heat duct, I wasn’t really happy with the results. The ducting took a circuitous route to prevent interference with the fuel line to the carburetor. See figure #1.
It recently occurred to me that this could be significantly and easily improved by shortening the fuel line. This would allow a direct path for the duct from the carb heat muff to the carb air box if the heat muff were rotated 90-degrees. The changes were executed and I am happy with the results.
Figure #2 shows the reconfiguration. The oblique angle of the photo makes the fuel line look very close to the duct, but the actual clearance is about one-inch. This photo angle also makes the fuel line look like it is kinked. Figure #3 reveals an adequate radius. There are kinks in the fire sleeve, but not the actual fuel line.
