Brief Description:  Oil Cooler Plumbing

I spent most of the morning plumbing the oil cooler. I have never liked the look of the stainless steel hoses, so I decided to attempt to hard plumb it. W.W. has said that he had looked into providing hard plumbing, but due to the number of engine configurations, and the cost of tooling, it just wasn’t commercially feasible at the time.

Since all the connecting points are rigidly attached and the runs are relatively short, I am not overly concerned with vibration. It took two iterations for one line and three for the other before I was happy with the results.

The first iterations were scrapped because they interfered with the left side of the upper cowling. This was made more difficult because the flaring tool and bending tool prevented the radius from being as close to the fitting as I wanted. I ended up modifying the back side of the flaring tool to shorten the distance.

If the cowling mounts as I expect, it will be in good shape.
