Brief Description:  Generator Drive Pins and 5th Bearing Oil Line

While preparing to updrill the holes in the damper for larger threads, I noticed that there was only 1/16” between the rear of the damper and the crankshaft oil seal immediately behind the holes that needed to be drilled. This is not nearly enough space to complete this operation without risking serious damage to the seal. So, I was forced to pull the damper and do the work off the engine.

Unfortunately the only puller I had was too small to span the diameter of the damper, so I was forced to fabricate my own. It was assembled from a three inch length of 5/8” square steel bar, and three bolts. After a trip to town to buy ($0.17) the two short 5/16 bolts, the holes were drilled, and the center hole tapped to 3/8-18. The jack screw was lubricated then tightened against the crank shaft to remove the damper.

The damper holes were updrilled and tapped to 3/8-18, then the drive pins were installed. The rubber bushings were shortened on the belt sander to clear the generator housing. The assembly was completed following the instructions.

The gold sandwich adapter and oil filter were mounted. The braided AN6 hose assembly that supplies oil to the 5th bearing was fabricated and installed.
