Brief Description: Engine Block Cleanup for Assembly
While at Oshkosh, I was able to pick up most of my engine components from William Wynne. With the next Corvair College in Mexico Missouri in mid September, I would like to assemble the lower end before the college, if possible. Unfortunately the favored Clevite 77 main bearings are no longer being manufactured. I am trying to find some retailer who may still have some in stock, but so far, no luck.
In the meantime, I have started the detailed cleaning of the case in preparation for assembly. The right half has been cleaned, oil galleys thoroughly brushed, and all of the threaded holes and studs cleaned with the appropriate tap or die. Ready now to move on to the left case half.
