Brief Description:  Rudder

Dimpled, updrilled and clecoed the rudder together for an alignment check.

To perform a more accurate check of the finished rudder straightness, I duplicated the geometry of the bottom rib in masonite, and bolted it to the top of the rudder. I then set the rudder on the bench with the trailing edge up and aligned the bottom rib tooling holes with a vertical self-leveling laser Image 1.) I then moved the laser around to the opposite end of the bench and checked the alignment of the masonite test rib (Image 2.) Alignment was excellent.
Encouraged by the laser alignment test, I dimpled the skin and ribs, then completed riveting of the rudder ribs, stiffners, and hinge line.

Rechecked the alignment, and was happy with the results.

Riveted the rudder horn to the bottom rib, completing the rudder.
