Brief Description:  Test Flight #4

After flying to Hendricks County airport to take on a load of 100LL, the fourth test flight was completed 8-25-2017. The primary focus of this flight was to conduct a one-hour long flight at 70 to 75% power, while monitoring all the engine parameters. The run went very well. The engine was smooth, and all the measurable parameters were well within the proper range and stable.

The fuel burn rate at cruise power is showing 7.4 gph, a good bit higher than I hope for, so the next flight will focus on the effects of engine leaning. This flight was flown with the mixture at full rich.

During the flight I determined that the magnetometer was off by about 30-degrees, so I will take time to calibrate it in the next few days.

While the radio is working correctly, the audio output level is low enough that I have a hard time hearing other traffic in the pattern, even with the headset volume all the way up. I’ll call FlightLine customer support next week for advice on how to set the internal gain up.

The autopilot was turned on for the first time, and all the basic functions seemed to work well. This will be very helpful for some of the upcoming test flights.

There was no drama during the two landings involved with this test flight.
