Brief Description:  Disconnecting and Pulling Engine for the Move to t

Preparation for the move of the Panther from the basement work shop to the hangar started today. The first piece of the transition was to prepare Bodacious to move from the hangar to the basement for some repair work on the undercarriage. The connections between its engine and the firewall were removed, and it is ready to be pulled so the fuselage can be moved to the basement.

The next piece of the transition was to disconnect everything between the Corvair engine and the Panther fuselage. This was relatively easy because this was planned from the beginning when these connections were fabricated. With everything disconnected, the plane was leveled and the come-a-long attached to the engine, and the load taken off the mounting bolts. The bolts were removed and the engine was lowered onto the sled positioned below the engine, then moved out of the way so some work could be completed on the firewall.

LPS-3 was injected into a few firewall rivet holes left open for that purpose, then the rivets were installed and pulled.

A bracket was mounted on the firewall to position the carburetor heat control cable.
