The pin hole filler sanding was completed, and another coat of primer was applied to the wheel pants. There are still some pin holes remaining, but they will be dealt with when the plane is painted, probably after the phase one testing is completed.
After test fitting the wheel pants again, the aluminum axel bushings were marked and drilled, then reinstalled.
To protect the wheel pants from radiant heat from the disc brakes, the inside surface of the inboard side of the wheel pant, aft halves, were covered with the same heat shield aluminum foil used inside the engine cowling. The forward halves will be covered later.
7/8” plastic bushings were installed in the valve stem access holes. ¾” diameter steel hole plugs fit into the center of the plastic bushings. The bushings protect the wheel pants from wear when the plugs are removed or replaced.
