Brief Description:  Lower Cowling Heat Shielding +

The lower cowling heat shielding was completed today. The forward edge of the heat shielding is aligned with the forward engine baffling, so the left side is about two-inches farther forward than the right side.

The shielding extends laterally far enough to protect from the exhaust manifold radiant heat, and to catch any oil that might drip from the valve covers.

The induction air filter box was mounted to the lower cowling, then the cowl was remounted to the airframe.

The upper cowling primer/filler had cured overnight, and was sanded with 600 grit paper. There is only one pin hole remaining. The upper cowling was remounted.

I want to paint the inside of the upper cowl, and the area forward of the heat shielding on the lower cowl, but have not decided what paint to use yet.
