Brief Description:  Mixed Projects

I started off the day by plugging the end holes in the pitot/static manifold that was fabricated yesterday, then priming it. A coat of paint in the morning and it will be ready to mount tomorrow.

Since I now have all the items to be mounted on the instrument panel, I spent some time verifying the actual physical dimensions of each component; to be sure the panel cut drawing is correct. I also updated the instrument panel graphic in CAD. The plan is to have a vinyl graphics shop print an overlay for the entire panel that will include the background color and all the device, indicator light, and switch labels.

In preparation for permanently mounting the side skins, I went through the entire forward fuselage replacing temporary fasteners with the correct AN hardware.

To reduce cabin noise and dress up the cabin interior, I plan to line the interior with panels fabricated from ¾” thick foam insulation with aluminum foil facing on both sides. A thin, light weight carpet will be applied to one side of the insulation, and these panel assemblies will be glued to the fuselage skin in the openings created by the steel fuselage structure. The foam adhered to the skin will significantly stiffen the surface, cutting down on the noise from the prop pressure pulses hitting the fuselage. The foil facing on the insulation provides a good gluing surface, and makes the insulation self-extinguishing.

About two-thirds of the foam panels for the floor were cut and fit today.
