Brief Description:  Cell Phone Pocket

I carry my cell phone with me when I fly, but it is uncomfortable and difficult to access if I keep it in my pocket while flying. I want it accessible for use through my headset if necessary, and I use it as a backup navigation device (Anywheremap) if everything else goes dark.

So, I designed a small pocket in the right side of the fuselage to hold it while in flight. Most of the pocket is already in place in the basic airframe. I simply designed a front face that also provides a bottom surface from 0.025” thick 6061-T6 aluminum. It will be riveted to the steel tube structure with six 3/32” stainless steel pulled rivets.

The inside of the pocket will be lined with felt or some other soft material to protect the phone, and a finger slot in the center allows the phone to be easily lifted out of its hiding place.
