Today the main gear-to-fuselage fairings were fabricated. A contour gauge duplicator was used to copy the shape of the gear leg at the intersection with the fuselage bottom surface. This pattern was transferred to poster board, then to 0.025ā thick 6061-T6 aluminum. The mounting flanges were bent, then holes in the side skin were match drilled to the fairings.
The fairings slip between the side skin and the steel frame, so there are no additional holes in the frame.
A small gap was left between the fairing and gear leg for a small piece of rubber āCā channel.
