I resumed work on the engine cowling today. A Dremel tool with a cutoff disc was set up to cut the induction air opening. A 1-3/4” hole was cut in a thin scrap of aluminum and set across the opening as a reference surface for the Dremel tool to work against, to maintain a uniform depth. The Dremel tool worked well, leaving a uniform opening.
I started making some reference marks to properly align the two halves of the cowl based on the cooling air openings. I was struggling to get it worked out, and wishing the cowling assembly section of the Builder’s Manual was ready. I stopped to check something else on my computer and noticed that a “Heads Up” notice from SPA had arrived in my in-box. It advised the builder’s that the cowling section of the BM was now available online. So, I printed it off and will study it this evening before proceeding. Thanks SPA.
