Brief Description:  Wiring Passages & Transponder Antenna

Most of today was spent planning wiring routes and antenna locations. There is a significant number of wires that need to cross the wing spars. I wanted to hide these as much as practical, and also protect them.

I chose to fabricate a wireway on the right side from Ā¾ā€ square aluminum tube. Wires will enter the wireway at the upper front edge of the spar cage, and exit on the rear of the spar cage at two points. One point exits under the upper cage frame tube to pass four wires to switches on the stick grip. The second exit point transfers wires to a smaller aluminum ā€œCā€ channel mounted under the sloping fuselage tube adjacent to the wing. This channel exits just ahead of the rear spar, carrying the antenna coax for the transceiver, the autopilot servo wires, and possibly the headset wiring.

These aluminum wireways will be painted to match the fuselage structure.

The transponder antenna was mounted just forward of the wing spar, and slightly off center to avoid interference with the fuel plumbing from the fuel selector.
