I spent a couple partial days to design a 3-D CAD model of my version of the carburetor heat box. The origin of this model is from drawings that Brent Mayo sent at my request.
I find it much easier to design in CAD, then have the CAD package unfold the individual sheet metal components, then print out full scale paper patterns. These patterns are then cut out and glued to the aluminum sheet. The paper pattern provides centerlines for the holes and provides bend lines that reflect the proper radius for the material thickness.
I added an access panel on the bottom to allow the box to be removed from the carburetor without removing rivets. A small steel strap is added on each side to provide durable bearings for the 3/16” valve pivot rod.
