Brief Description:  Tail Fairing

Today the tail fairing was removed by using a thin, one-inch wide, piece of fiberglass, and slipping it between the fairing and the fuselage and stabilizers in multiple places. After removal, sheet-metal snips were used to rough trim the fairing. It was then placed back on the fuselage and the final trim line marked again with a fine felt tip marker.

The fairing was trimmed again to within 1/8” of the final cut line with sheet-metal snips. It was then sanded carefully on a belt sander to the final trim line. The exterior was then sanded to remove high spots, then wet micro was squeegeed over the surface to begin filling the fiberglass weave.
