Brief Description:  Tail Fairing

e first four layers of fiberglass were laid up, creating the tail fairing today. The fiberglass pieces were spread out on a plastic sheet one at a time, then epoxy was brushed and stippled in until it was saturated. The fiberglass remained on the plastic sheet until it was positioned against the fuselage. The plastic was then carefully rolled away, leaving the fiberglass in place. The fiberglass position was tweaked into final position with a chip brush, then stippled to ensure there were no air bubbles and that it was laying flat.

This process was repeated until both sides were covered with four layers. Additional bias patches were added between layers at the leading edges of the vertical and horizontal stabilizers. This layup will be allowed to cure, then it will be sanded in place to eliminate high spots and improve adhesion for at least two more layers.
