Brief Description:  Canopy Skirt Interior Finishing

Again today, the Spot Putty applied yesterday was sanded down. It is looking pretty good, but a few spots still needed further attention, so another application was made to the problem areas and allowed to cure while I took a nap. After returning, the Spot Putty was sanded and deemed acceptable.

I am planning to use spackle paint on the interior of the fiberglass skirt, but have had no experience with this material before. So, I sprayed three quick coats spaced about five minutes apart on the back side of a piece of scrap fiberglass. Part of it was applied to sanded, raw fiberglass, and the remainder on an area that had been precoated with Rust-oleum 2X, Ultra Cover Paint+Primer. This material supposedly adheres well to plastic substrates. The idea is to use it as a primer that may provide better adhesion than can be achieved with unprimed fiberglass. I should have an answer after this trial piece thoroughly cures.
