The Gap filler tucked into the gap from the outside of the skirt provided a good seal to the fuselage all the way around, but the results on the interior were uneven and ugly.
To improve the interior appearance, the mating surface of the fuselage was again prepared with three additional coats of PVA. A large batch of epoxy/ milled fiberglass was prepared and applied to the skirt, partially filling the area inboard of the previously applied filler. The canopy was then closed and locked in place, compressing the added filler to conform to most of the remaining gap. This will further define the varying depth of filler needed around the skirt. Several additional iterations will be needed to co complete the fill.
