Today I completed preparation of the inboard and outboard ends of the wing fold slide tubes. After printing the paper pattern, the inboard ends were machined with a step drill to generate the inside radii, then a reinforced cutting disc in a Dremel tool roughed out the openings. A sanding drum was used to clean up the notches, then an abrasive disc was used to polish the tube.
The rudder cables were disconnected from the eyelets and pushed through the Nylon tubes. One was difficult to get through, so I heated the tight area of the tube with a heat gun set at 220-degrees to temporarily, slightly increase the diameter, allowing the cable end to be pushed through. The tubes were then clamped to the fuselage structure per the Builder’s Manual.
