Brief Description:  Completion of Air Vents

I started work on the air vents last November, but did not complete them because I did not have the soft solid rivets I wanted to use on these assemblies. The rivets arrived a few days ago, so I decided to complete these items.

The vent components were disassembled, cleaned up, countersunk, primed, then reassembled using soft rivets.

To make them easier to operate, I drilled a hole through the handle, and cut a one-inch length of a large steel nail to slip through the hole. Two ½” long pieces of ¼” diameter aluminum tubing were cut to slip over each end of the nail. JB-Weld was mixed and applied to both sided of the protruding nail, and the short aluminum tubes were slipped over the nail ends and twisted to spread the adhesive. Clamps were applied to keep everything in formation until the adhesive cures.
