Brief Description: Baggage Tie-down Point Completion
Today, the fabrication and assembly of the baggage tie-down points was completed. Spacers for the outboard points were fabricated from 1/8” thick by 1/2” tall, by 2” long aluminum bars, to adapt the tie-down points to the geometry of the lower longerons.
Since the inboard points attach only to the intersection of the lower skin and the control tunnel sides, 3/4” X 1/16” aluminum angle stiffeners were fabricated to beef up the structure and to distribute the loads. These stiffeners are on the inside of the tunnel, so they are out of sight.
The tunnel sides were painted with Rust-oleum Hammered Paint, but will probably eventually be covered with a thin indoor/outdoor carpet for a more durable surface and sound-deadening.
