Brief Description:  Avionics Tray

While waiting for a few things to gel in my mind, I designed an avionics tray to mount the avionics that will not fit on the instrument panel. The CAD design was taken to Office Depot and printed out full scale on their large format printer. The printout out was glued to the aluminum sheet, cut, then bent on my Harbor Freight brake.

The tray is 10” front to back, made from 0.025 thick 6061-T6 aluminum, and will be riveted to the inboard surfaces of the steel fuselage structure, and to the round diagonal tube beneath it. There is a gap of 4” between the rear edge of the square cross tube that mounts the instrument panel, and the rear edge of the tray.

There is plenty of access between the front surface of the tray and the firewall for access to the rudder pedals for maintenance.
