Brief Description: Continuation of Engine Component Prep
Today, most of the painted engine components were post cured in the oven at 200 degrees for one hour. It did emit a foul odor, but I placed a large fan in a nearby exterior door to pull air out of the house, and opened windows on the opposite side of the oven. This mitigated the issue significantly, and the judicious application of Febreze after the process was completed, eliminated all evidence of the dastardly deed. If fact, when my wife got home she asked if I had completed the curing process yet. Success!!!
I had forgotten to paint the damper, so it did not get baked. That is probably a good thing. There is an elastomeric material in the damper, and I am not sure that it would appreciate the heat cycle.
I also machined a tubular punch that was used to cut twelve pieces of foam to a 1-1/4” diameter. These will be used to mask the hydraulic lifter holes when I paint the case following the lower end assembly.
