Today the left case half was cleaned, oil galleys carefully brushed, and all of the threaded holes and studs cleaned with the appropriate tap or die.
One of the new hydraulic lifters was externally lubricated and tested for appropriate fit to both case halves. One of the twelve locations needed a little attention to make the lifter fit correctly.
The oil case with the high volume pump was also cleaned then set in position on the assembled case halves so I could figure out what bolts were used to mount it. Found the correct bolts and washers from the original engine and cleaned them with a wire wheel. The washers will be replaced with new ones because several were distorted or rusted beyond my standards.
