Brief Description: Initial Aft Fuselage Assembly
|
|
While waiting for the new “Tank Dimpling Dies” for blind, closed end rivets to arrive, I decided to begin assembly of the rear fuselage.
A slight bend was applied to the forward edges of the left, right, and bottom, rear fuselage skins with my Harbor Freight brake. This provides a nice blend between the forward and aft fuselage assemblies.
The four longerons were match drilled to the left and right aft skins with a #40 drill. Unfortunately, the drill bit broke and left an ugly scar in the skin. I guess that’s why God invented body filler.
Bulkhead #1 was clecoed together, and after several passes at getting everything oriented correctly, it and bulkheads 3, 4, and 5 were clecoed to the right side of the aft fuselage assembly.
Everything fits together very well.
