Brief Description:  Wing Assembly Anti-Sag Device

While waiting for the remainder of my kit to arrive, I built a couple of “anti-sag” devices. These are used during the wing assembly process to prevent the sag that occurs because the wing is mounted at the ends of the front spars, and the weight of the assembly causes sag in the middle of the span. This problem ends when the skins are attached.

These devices are mounted between the floor and the rear spar, then the bolts are adjusted until the spar is straight.

The devices are assembled from scrap wood, 3/8” T-Nuts, #8 X ½” long wood screws to retain the T-Nuts, and 3/8” X 3” long hex bolts. One end of wood support is drilled to 7/16” X 3” deep, the T-Nut is inserted and retained with two #8 wood screws, then the 3/8” bolt is threaded into place.

The other end of the device connects to the rear spar and is held in place with clecos through two sets of rib pilot holes.
