Brief Description:  Other tools available if the need arises. PP-1

Photo 1:
On the far left is a combined 4” belt sander and a 6” disc sander.
In the center is a Dewalt 12” miter saw used for cutting wood, aluminum, plastic, and even steel with the appropriate blade. This was originally purchased when I was building a deck on the back of our house.
Next is a one-inch belt sander used for cleaning up components with geometries that the larger belt sander cannot handle.
The device on the red stand is a Chicago Electric (Harbor Freight) portable, variable speed, bandsaw converted from a hand-held tool to a vertical bandsaw, by mounting it in a custom stand I fabricated from square steel tubing. This saw is excellent at cutting steel up to ~ ¾” thick for the fabrication of typical steel components used in homebuilt aircraft. The inexpensive blades last a long time because the saw can be slowed down to speeds appropriate for steel. Probably the best $80 I have spent for a tool.

Photo 2:
On the left is a 10” Sears table saw. Its primary use to fabricate wood fixtures needed to form aircraft components, or to hold components in position for assembly. This was bought off Craig’s List for ~$200.
In the center is a 12” sears wood cutting bandsaw that is used for cutting wood, plastic and aluminum; given to me by my father-in-law, after he gave up woodworking.
On the right is a 20-ton Central Machinery (Harbor Freight) hydraulic press, purchased during one of their frequent sales. This is used to form aluminum and steel aircraft parts, press gears on Corvair crankshafts, and break things.

Photo 3 - is a Grizzly Model G8689 bench-top milling machine. I bought this used off Craig’s list for less than $200, then replaced a few parts, and cleaned it up. It works well for aluminum, and very light cuts on steel. It proved to be very useful while building Bodacious.
