Brief Description: SAA Chapter Meeting

Jackie and I held a Sport Aircraft Association Waikato & Thames Valley chapter meeting this afternoon. We spent the last couple of days preparing the workshop and garden. Jackie even baked some sausage rolls and savories and things: we'll have more of that thank you!! We had the completed left wing, right wing skeleton and all the empennage assembled and on display. Spent a good few hours chatting to builders about the project, future plans, expectations and all that. Met some new and interesting people. In all, a good and successful afternoon. Over the next couple of nights we'll disassemble all the parts and put them away. I noticed some rust on at least one of the vertical stabilizer hinge brackets where the powder coat had come off, so I'll attend to that and check all the other steel bits as well before they get put back in to storage. I've got a bottle of touchup paint from Vans, so it shouldn't be much of a bother, and better done now rather than left to get worse. After that, we'll get back on with the right wing, but since we are financially behind where we wanted to be by now, and given that we want to build 'out of pocket' rather than finance, there's no big rush for us to get a wriggle on...
