Brief Description:  Rudder assembly

A *very* frustrating day today. Not sure why but the rudder took *ages* to assemble, and we messed up a whole load or rivets on the way. Just having a bad day I guess. Oh, and that's seven *man* hours, not actual duration. And that damn Proseal really is as messy as everyone says, and a bitch to work with. None the less, we got the skin fitted to the skeleton, the leading edges rolled and rivetted. and the rod-end bearings fitted. The dimensions on the rod-ends are as per the drawing, but I'm not convinced the alignment is quite correct. Thank goodness for those Avery temporary assembly pins I bought: it'll be a real bitch getting the bolts in when the time comes. That's when I guess we'll need to adjust the rod-ends to get the alignment just right. At least the counter balance clears nicely. Good old Vans pre-punching in action!! Getting the rudder assembled to the vertical stabilizer was another one of those motivational moments. Superb feeling. What on earth will it feel like when this thing actually *flies*?!!! Gotta crack on though: elevator tomorrow (if I don't go skydiving, that is).
