Brief Description:  Ground adj. rudder pedals

I'm back from my week away and since skydiving was cancelled today (again, and due to weather, again) it gave me the chance to look at the rudder pedals. The replacement tracks had arrived from Vans while I was away. As a result of the training I have two exams to sit within the next month some time, so I shall be making limited progress on the plane.

The first thing I noticed with the ground adjustable rudder pedals is that you need to remove four rivets and replace them with CSK4-4 as the angles won't sit down flush otherwise. This is where I get very frustrated with Vans: a simple note in the instructions ages ago when working on the firewall and gear tower angles would have prevented some awkward re-work and the need for rivet removal and replacement blind rivets. Its easy. Vans are you listening? You can quote me if you like... "if you intend to install ground adjustable rudder pedals use a countersunk rivet insead of a universal rivet in these locations" ...there! How hard was that?

First task was to remove and replace said rivets. Then I made the thrust washers from the platic sheet supplied. I then assembled the rudder pedals and placed them in the fuselage so I could determine hole locations, etc. Next I drilled the angles, and then match drilled into the fuselage. Remove, deburr, clean, alodyne and primer. Actually, it took way longer than that; the pedals didn't want to assemble and needed some coaxing; still do, they're a little stiff. I also had the assembly, er assembled, fitted and disassembled several times during the fitting process. All takes time.
