Brief Description:  Gear tower mod

A long night tonight in very hot conditions. Sorry the picture is a little blurred, but I was bent double and upside down making sure the picture was the right way up! Both towers have now been drilled and countersunk for K1000-8 nutplates. The webs between each lightening hole have been carefully cut out using a dremel with a block of wood as a backstop (so I don't accidentally dremel the fuel vent line in there!). Both towers are now ready to be primered along with their respective cover plates, and then the last job is simply to put the nutplates on after the primer dries up. Then we're all set to continue with the screws and rivets in the side skins, after which we can flip the canoe back again.

In case you can't make out the sketch in one of the previous posts, I'm using the following:-

Cover plates from AS3-063 x 4 3/16" Alclad 2024-T3 (these were originally supplied in the wing kit to fabricate the F-804H center sections side plates, but pre-fabbed ones arrived with the pre-punched fuse).

56x MS27039-0808 structural round head, philips screws (NAS220-08)
56x MS21047-L08 nutplates (K1000-8)
112x MS20426AD3-3.5 solid flush rivets (AN426AD3-3.5)
