After what seems like an eternity I managed to get back into the workshop today. I didn't get much done though as I had plenty of other things to deal with and took a while to get my head back around what stage I was at, what needed doing, etc, etc.
First of all I fitted the Vans top skin and marked all around it so I knew where is went on the fuselage. Then I removed it again. I marked a center line on the Tom Clark top skin to help with lateral alignment. I cleco'd and riveted the Tom Clark bulkheads on, and then placed the Tom Clark top skin on top and stood back and mused a while. The instructions provided by Tom I'm not sure will work entirely well with my pre-drilled fuselage and longerons so I need to devise a way of fitting the top skin so it doesn't impart a twist to the fuselage and snugs up tight against each bulkhead; I'm thinking about that one...
...meanwhile, I went ahead and removed the elevators and the horizontal stab. This then enabled me to drill and rivet the aftmost Tom Clark F-810 bulkhead to the aft deck. I then removed the elevator pushrod, bellcrack and Trutrak autopilot pitch servo. I drilled the angles for a couple of additional rivets on each side, worked out the new length bolts and things I needed to order and emailed an order in to Aviation and Performance Parts. And that is as much as I got done today, and I seem to be coming down with a cold too. Great! :-(
