Brief Description:  Grove gear legs & priming

No jumping for me today; weather has been fine but I awoke this morning with a killer headache and decided jumping wasn't the right thing to be doing, so I called up the club and told them I couldn't make it. So, after some extensive research on the Internet last night and reading of my AC 43.13 manual this morning, I decided to preempt what I'm sure Grove will say and tackle those gear legs. As such followed a 3 hour session of careful polishing/corrosion removal with 1000grit wet 'n' dry paper used wet. Just as well it was a nice day outside. Of course, there was no point in cleaning them up just to have them deteriorate again, so after I had Jackie look them over with a super-critical eye (and a little more re-work as a result) I decided to push ahead and prime them up. The whole thing. I wanted them polished, but I want them to last: I'm now pinning my hopes on chrome-look paint and I have several email enquiries out to manufacturers/suppliers that I found during a web search session. Anyway, I deburred the battery box pieces, and then cleaned/degreased all the various parts, alodined them all (those gear legs were a little tricky!) and then primered everything. So now we're all protected and work can thus continue.
