Brief Description:  Rivet left fwd side skin

Made a start on rivetting the forward side skins. Well, the left-hand on anyway. Before I did that, though, I spotted a 'boo boo' in yesterday's work. Despite carefully running a bead of firewall sealant down the edge of the side skins, it did not squish out to seal the holes in the corner of the firewall flange. Damn. No choice for it now but to place a blob of sealant in each hole, from both the front and the back. Except I don't have any sealant, so it will need to wait until my next Vans order. Ah well...

Anyway, I rivetted as many rivets as I could see looking down at the inside of the forward left side skin. Jackie helped me out with a few down near the auxilliary longeron where it was difficult to reach. We haven't yet done any of teh rivets below the longeron because we can't easily see them with the fuselage upright. Tomorrow we shall do the same rivets on the right-side skin and then flip the fuselage upside down to continue with the rest. A also noticed, once again, that many of Vans rivet callouts are simply too short; why? How does a company like Vans, with so much experience and so many kits still have things like incorrect rivet callouts? It makes no sense whatsoever. The frustration is that I have literally hundreds of 'short' rivets, and very few longer ones, which means I am forced to keep ordering more rivets, except I never know which size I'm going to need and when!!
