Brief Description:  Upper longerons / fwd side skins

Riveted the F-887 upper longerons to the upper engine mounts and the landing gear boxes. The plans call for AN470AD4-7 rivets for the longeron/engine mount and after setting the first one I wasn't convinced it was the right choice. I subsequently went to -8's and was much happier with them (photo 2). I also back-riveted the stiffeners and angles to both the left and right forward side skins.

I came to a sticking point there because the instructions advise installing the correct brackets for either carb'd or fuel injected engines (for the pump and filter), and I hadn't 100% made that choice. Anyway, I consulted with The Oracle (Jackie) and we made a firm committment to go with FI. That's fine, no problem there, but now I have to fit the two brackets and the worst bit of all is having to break out the primer just for those. Arse.

Not only that, but the plans further advise making the fuel and vent lines that go to the fuel valve and into the landing gear boxes whilst access is easier. BUT, I don't have a fuel valve, or any fuel/vent tubing. I think I gave a whole load of tubing to another builder since I'm using SafeAir pitot and static tubing and thought I wouldn't need it. I'll have to follow that up with him. As for the fuel valve: I had deleted the Vans valve in anticipation of a proposed group buy on Andair valves. Which never eventuated. So now I have neither. Guess I'll be needing to order one of those too, then. More delay (and expense at the wrong/unanticipated time).
